Auch
heute würden wir ca. 100 km hinter uns legen... genug bei dem wilden Verkehr
und der Hitze! Ich war auch wieder früh wach, um 5:30 Uhr, und machte mich
gleich an die Arbeit. Mit super Internet aber zu vielen Fotos...
Also today we would cover about 100 km... enough with the wild traffic and the heat! I was up early at 5:30 am started to work straight away. With great internet but too many photos...

Um 10 Uhr
genoss ich ein hervorragendes Frühstück im stilvollen Herrenhaus Chettinadu Mansion
und 2 Stunden später fuhren wir los. Auf dem Weg besichtigten wir die
Plattenherstellung Sri Ganesh in Athangudi und ich durfte sogar selber eine
kreieren! : ) Die Platten werden von Hand hergestellt, was insgesamt 10 Tage
benötigt: 48 Stunden im Wasser und 7 Tage trocknen.
At 10 am I enjoyed an excellent breakfast in the stylish Chettinadu Mansion and 2 hours later we hit the roads. On the way we visited the Sri Ganesh tile production in Athangudi and I was even allowed to create one myself! : ) The tiles are handmade, which takes a total of 10 days: 48 hours in water and 7 days drying.

Nach 2
Stunden Fahrt erreichten wir die riesige Stadt Madurai. Diesmal hat mir keines
der Hotels auf Anhieb zugesagt, so nahm ich mir die Zeit einige in Realität
auszuchecken... dann erhielt ich bzw. Manju einen Anruf von Mani des Heritage Madurai mit einem guten Angebot - und schon waren wir unterwegs!
Die Anlage des Heritage Madurai ist so gross (17 a), dass ich mit einem Golfcart zu meinem Zimmer gefahren wurde! Kaum hatte ich meine Koffer platziert, war es Zeit ins Zentrum zu fahren...
After 2 hours of driving we reached the huge city of Madurai. This time none of the hotels had appealed to me straight away, so I took the time to check some of them out in reality... then I resp. Manju received a call from Mani of the Heritage Madurai with a good offer - and off we went!
The premises of the Heritage Madurai are so big (17 acres) that I was driven to my room by a golf cart! As soon as I had placed my bags, it was time to drive to the city centre...

stellten das Auto beim Um Thirumakai Nayak Palace ab und nahmen ein Autoriksha
zum Sri Meenakshi Tempel, der als Weltwunder betitelt wird. Drinnen darf man
keine Fotos machen, so spazierten wir um die Aussenmauer herum bis zum
westlichen Tor. Dort wurden wir in ein 4-stöckiges Geschält von Kashmiri
gelotst und durften eine spektakuläre Aussicht der Tempelstadt von ihrer
Terrasse geniessen, inkl. Aufstieg mittels einer lebensgefährliche Leiter -
entweder ist es für sie normal oder sie waren noch nie oben! ; ) Übrigens erinnert
mich Madurai sehr an Fes...
We parked the car at Um Thirumakai Nayak Palace and took an autoriksha to the Sri Meenakshi Temple, which is dubbed one of the Wonders of the World. You can't take photos inside, so we walked around the outer wall to the west gate. There we were guided into a 4-storey shop of Kashmiri and were able to enjoy a spectacular view of the temple city from their terrace, including the ascent by means of a life-threatening ladder - either it is normal for them or they have never climbed upthere! ; ) By the way, Madurai reminds me a lot of Fez...

Um
18:45 Uhr begann im Um Thirumakai Nayak Palace die Ton-und-Licht Show -
nun hatte ich den Palast doch noch gesehen! Als wir heute Abend kurz vor 5 Uhr
da waren, war er bereits geschlossen... Nach der Hälfte jagten mich die
Moskitos raus und ins Auto, wo Manju geduldig wartete.
The sound and light show at Um Thirumakai Nayak Palace started at 6:45 pm - now I had even have seen the palace! When we got there shortly before 5 am, it was already closed... After half of the performance the mosquitoes chased me out and into the car, where Manju was waiting patiently.

Zurück im Heritage Madurai machte ich mich trotz mässigem Internet nochmals an den
Bank Transfer an Johnny von Bas & Das Tourism - meine Überweisung von
vor einer Woche war zurückgekommen! Nun musste ich mich unbedingt von dieser
Verpflichtung lösen: Ich hasse es Schulden zu haben! - Danach fühlte ich mich
frei und konnte beruhigt einschlafen...

Back at the Heritage Madurai and
despite of moderate internet I redid my bank transfer to Johnny from Bas &
Das Tourism - my transfer a week ago had returned! Now I absolutely had to
release myself from this obligation: I hate having debts and commitments! – Thereafter I felt free and could fall asleep in peace...
