Hier im Papillon habe ich echt super geschlafen - auf guten Matratzen und mit dem ewigen Rauschen des Meeres... Nur einmal wurde ich von einem Knall auf dem Dach geweckt, da es sich danach bewegte, konnte es sich auf keinen Fall um eine Kokosnuss handeln... war es etwa ein Affe oder doch ein Streifenhörnchen?

Here at the Papillon I slept really well - on good mattresses and with the eternal sound of the ocean... Only once I was woken up by a bang on the roof, because it moved afterwards, it definitely was not a coconut... was it a monkey or rather a chipmunk?

So war eigentlich alles same same but different wie die Inder sagen... ; ) Joggen und schwimmen barfuss und im Bikini 2 mal den Palolem Beach hin und zurück, doppelten Espresso im Art Resort, Yoga im Anand Yoga um die Ecke und das Frühstück wie das Abendessen waren die Qual der Wahl... und das alles bei angenehmen 30 Grad (Wasser 27) mit Brise...

So everything was actually same same but different as the Indians say... ; ) Jogging and swimming barefoot in my bikini twice back and forth the beach of Palolem, double espresso at the Art Resort, yoga at Anand Yoga around the corner and for breakfast as well as dinner I was really spoilt for choice... and all this with pleasant 30 centigrade (water 27) with a breeze...

In Indien gibt es übrigens über 100 Sprachen verschiedener Sprachfamilien... auch hier ist Kommunikation nicht immer einfach! ; ) Heaven, Aqi und Ish des Papillon sind Kashmiri - die meisten Angestellten überall stammen aus Nordindien. Harte Arbeit sind sie sich gewohnt: 7 Tage die Woche für einen Tageslohn vom IRP250 (CHF/EUR 3)! Die Jungs arbeiten von morgens 6 bis keiner mehr da ist ohne einen freien Tag... Nicht nur die Liegestühle tagsüber und Tische abends werden täglich aufgestellt und abgebaut, sondern auch alle Hütten am Strand werden im Oktober aufgestellt und im Mai demontiert wegen des Monsoons...

By the way, in India there are over 100 languages of different language families... here too, communication is not always easy! ; ) Heaven, Aqi and Ish of the Papillon are Kashmiri - most of the employees everywhere come from Northern India. They are used to hard work: 7 days a week for a daily wage of IRP250 (CHF/EUR 3)! The boys work from 6 in the morning until no one is there anymore without a day off... Not only are the deckchairs and tables set up and taken down every day, but also all the huts on the beach are set up in October and dismantled in May because of the Monsoon...

Am Donnerstag (Susans letzter Tag in Goa) verabredeten wir uns um 9:30 Uhr für eine Backwater Tour mit Mr. Big. Nach einem Espresso im Arte Resort marschierten wir zum Nordende der Palolem Beach, wo Mr. Big und sein Boot auf uns warteten. Ruhig - auch akustisch, denn man hörte das Meer gar nicht mehr - glitten wir dahin bis ein Schwarm Brahminenweihe (Habichtart) seine Aufmerksamkeit auf sich lenkte. Die intelligenten Raubvögel wurden gefüttert und so zur Attraktion.

On Thursday (Susan's last day in Goa) we made an appointment for a backwater tour with Mr. Big at 9:30 am. After an espresso at the Arte Resort we marched to the north end of Palolem Beach, where Mr. Big and his boat were awaiting us. We glided quietly - also acoustically, because you couldn't hear the ocean anymore - until a flock of Brahminy Kites (hawk-type) caught its attention. The intelligent birds of prey were fed and made to an attraction.

Am Sonntag Morgen lud mich Raja nochmals ein auf eine Dolphincruisemit seiner MV Sana. Das Meer war spiegelglatt und doch kein Delfin weit und breit zu erspähen... nach einem Stopp auf der Butterfly Beach tauchten dann doch noch ein paar auf! : )

On Sunday morning Raja invited me for another dolphin cruise with his MV Sana. The sea was smooth as glass and yet no dolphin could be spotted far and wide... after a stop on the Butterfly Beach a few more appeared! : )

Kurz nach dem Erwachen barfuss und im Bikini joggen zu gehen bedeutet für mich Wohlbefinden und Freiheit pur! Anschliessend Schwimmen im 26 Grad warmen Arabischen Meer macht den Tagesbeginn perfekt... und die immer freundlichen Inder geben jedem ein herzliches Lächeln und erinnern einen, dass man sich im Paradies befindet... : ))

Jogging barefoot on the beach wearing but a bikini shortly after waking up means pure wellbeing and freedom to me! Having a swim thereafter in the 26 centigrade warm Arabian Sea makes the start of the day just perfect... and the always friendly Indians giving everyone a hearty smile remind us that we are in paradise... : ))

Am Sonntag, den 02.02.2020 feierte Helmi seinen 60. Geburtstag und lud uns ein zum Libanesen ins Gatheround in Palolem. Wir verbrachten einen vergnüglichen Abend mit sehr leckerem Essen! Zudem fand ich heraus, dass auch mein Nachbar Krishna (Shop) heute Geburtstag hatte: Er wurde 33! : )

On Sunday 02.02.2020 Helmi celebrated his 60th birthday and invited us to the Lebanese at the Gatheround in Palolem. We spent an happy evening with delicious food! In addition I found out that my neighbour Krishna (shop) also had his birthday today: He turned 33! : )

Am Dienstag organisierten Reini & Helmi ihren langjährigen Freund und Taxiunternehmer Kishor für eine Jungeltour. Nachdem wir Susan in Putnem aufgeladen hatten, ging es 1 1/2 Stunden ins Landesinnere durch den Jungel zur Tanshikar Spice Farm. Nach einem Willkommenstee und Cashew Nüssen begleitete der Besitzer Chinmay uns durch seine Gewürzfarm. Sein Grossvater hatte die Farm gegründet und vieles, das letzterer vor 2 Generationen anpflanzte, konnte Chinmay zum ersten Mal ernten... Chinmay beeindruckte nicht nur mit seinem grossen Wissen über die Pflanzen und ihre medizinische Wirkung, sondern bestach auch mit einer sehr persönlichen Tour und lud uns sogar in sein Haus ein! : ))

On Tuesday, Reini & Helmi organized their long-time friend and taxi entrepreneur Kishor for a jungle tour. After picking up Susan in Putnem, we drove inland through the jungle for 1 1/2 hours to Tanshikar Spice Farm. After a welcome tea and cashew nuts, the owner Chinmay accompanied us through his spice farm. His grandfather founded the farm and Chinmay was the one to harvest many products for the first time, which his grandpa had planted 2 generations before... Chinmay not only impressed with his great knowledge of his plants and their medicinal uses, but also captivated with a very personal tour including a visit in his house! : ))

Nach einem leckeren Mittagessen fuhr uns Kishor zum Savari Wasserfall. Eigentlich hatten wir vor uns nach dem 20-minütigen Fussmarsch im kühlen Nass abzukühlen... das Wasser war aber dann doch einen Tick zu kühl, so dass ich statt dessen meine Füsse von den Knabberfischen peelen liess! ; )

After a delicious lunch, Kishor drove us to the Savari waterfall. Actually, we intended to cool down in the fresh water after the 20-minute walk... but the water was a bit too cool, so I had the nibble fish exfoliate my feet instead! ; )

Viele Touristen bleiben mehrere Monate in Goa... so auch Reini & Helmi bereits seit Jahren. Susan ist wie ich das erste Mal in Goa - wir alle aber haben etwas gemeinsam: Oman! Susan arbeitet mit einem Omani und kam geschäftlich aus Muscat, Reini & Helmi werden wie ich auf dem Rückweg einige Zeit in Oman verbringen - das 2. Mal...

Many tourists stay in Goa for several months... including Reini & Helmi since years. Susan is like me for the first time in Goa - but we all have something in common: Oman! Susan works with an Omani and came from Muscat on business, Reini & Helmi (like me) will spend some time in Oman on the way back - for our 2nd time...

Ich wurde oft gefragt wie viele Länder ich schon besucht habe... ich hatte keine Ahnung, aber als ich im App been die bereisten Ländern nachschaute, kam ich auf 93 - also fast die Hälfte, denn zur Zeit gibt es 195 Staaten! : )

I was often asked how many countries I have visited... I had no idea, but when I looked it up on the app been, it showed 93 - almost half of the existing countries, because there are currently 195! : )

Goa erinnert mich am meisten an Costa Rica... eine buntgemischte Gemeinde aus Touris und Einheimischen - hier ersetzten die Engländer die Amis. Am Wochenende hat es sehr viele Inder, die meist aus den grossen Städten Mumbay und Delhi kommen. Palolem Beach bewies sich bisher als schönster und interessantester Strand: idyllische Bucht mit atemberaubenden Sonnenuntergängen, Restaurants und Shops lassen keine Wünsche offen und es gibt viele Optionen sich zu vergnügen (Yoga, Massagen, Stand-up Paddle, Kanus, Ausflüge per Boot oder Taxi).

Goa reminds me most of Costa Rica... a colourful community of tourists and locals - here the English replace the Americans. At the weekends there are lots of Indians, mostly from the big cities of Mumbay and Delhi. Palolem Beach has so far proven to be the most beautiful and interesting beach: an idyllic bay with breathtaking sunsets, restaurants and shops leave nothing to be desired and there are many options for activities (yoga, massages, stand-up paddle, canoes, trips by boat or taxi).

So entspannt es hier auch ist an Goas Stränden, ich fühlte, dass es langsam Zeit wird für mich weiterzuziehen... So streckte ich meine Fühler aus und musste von meinem Plan ein Auto zu mieten weichen: Alle rieten es mir ab und ich fand kein Fahrzeug, wo ich eine Versicherung abschliessen konnte... Alternativen sind Fahrer mit Auto (wie in Nordindien letzten Sommer) oder mit dem Zug, Tuktuk, Taxi und Flugzeug...

As relaxed as it is here on Goa's beaches, I felt that it was time for me to move on... So I stretched out my antennas and had to skip my plan to rent a car: Everybody advised me not to drive alone and I neither could find a rental car with insurance... Alternatives are a driver with car (as I had in northern India last summer) or by train, tuktuk, taxi and plane...
